Designed for the urban cyclists, our Commuter™ 504™ Regular Straight Jeans provide greater convenience, safety, mobility, and protection no matter how you roll. Cut in a modern, straight fit with a lower rise and a bit more room in the seat and thigh.
I've received these about two weeks ago and have worn them 3 times so far. They were purchased intended for light commuting by bike (4 miles cycling + 25 mile Caltrain ride) to work while trying to make commuting more time-efficient and feasible in the long term.
I can't speak yet on the durability of the jeans since I've had them for such a short time, but I'm hopeful they will last, both in durability as well as being water resistant. The plusses currently though, is that I don't have to change into cycling-specific clothing (i.e. cycling shorts, jersey etc), then change again at the office, and vice-versa on the way home-- having cycling-specific, office casual clothing helps save me 30 mins a day :)
It would be nice of Levi's Commuter brand was tested and confirmed bullet and bomb-proof as some of the other well-known SF casual cycling brands, which typically have their cycling pants made out of a really durable cordura, I digress.
Anyway, if there's a way to submit or update this review after some time, I'd certainly love to post a follow-up review and update :)
The first time I wore these jeans I hit a gap in the pavement riding my bike and went over the handlebars, landing mainly on my left knee. I expected the jeans to have a tear or for the fabric to be damaged. They still looked brand new. I was amazed.
The cut and fit and very comfortable, both on the bike and for regular wear. I bought three different pairs of commuter pants and jeans and I love them all. They are the only pants I'm wearing these days.
