I have owned two pairs of commuter 511 and they have held up great with daily biking and wear. The problem was I didn't like the fit as much as I wanted to. The were just two loose compared to the regular 510 which I grew up wearing. Thankfully Levi's listened and designed this amazing pair of jeans. All the great features of the 511 Commuter in a slimmer more modern jean. Perfect. My main suggestion for these jeans is DO NOT WASH THEM for at LEAST 6 months! There is absolutely no reason too. Let the NanoSphere® technology do its job against stains all while embracing the natural fading you get from daily wear and riding. That being said I suggest you size down. Even so much so you cant or can BARELY button them. They'll stretch with your body and be a perfect fit in no time. It will be uncomfortable for a bit but worth it in the long run.
I recommend this product!

I have been a regular user of the Commuter line of clothing for almost 2 years now. My general observations for the line are that the durability and construction are fantastic and the additional technical features add plenty of value. With proper care and minimal washing, the water-resistance has held up quite well (at least for me). It seems that the “twill” material has better water resistance performance over an extended period of time compared to the denim. The tighter weave of the fabric appears to resist water better. I have used Commuter pants for more than 2 years and they are still holding up great…no holes, tears, or even significant wear. The crotch and seat show some fading from constant abrasion although it is not extreme. I find the 511 slim fit to be acceptable but the 510 skinny is more my style. This has sadly caused me to wear my Commuter pants primarily for biking and inclement weather and not so much for generalized usage. One thing I really appreciate is that Levi’s has listened to the feedback and introduced looser fits for more athletic builds and finally a tighter fit.
The 510 skinny Commuter jeans in Performance Rigid Indigo have great fit and nice quality denim. The color seems darker and slightly greenish compared to the Rigid Indigo Commuter 511s I have been using since winter/spring 2012 (probably considered generation 2 jeans). The fit is snug but not skin-tight (at least on me). They seem to fit comparable to many of my tighter non-Commuter 510s (some 510s I have are looser in the seat and thighs than others for some reason). I kept the waist at my normal size since they seem to run slightly bigger than the spring 2012 Commuter pants and jeans. This also accounts for stretch with wear over time. Overall I love them but unfortunately, the 511s work better for biking in my opinion. Even with my twig legs, these pants are a bit constricting while pedaling. This is less noticeable for the denim jeans compared to the twill material jeans (Commuter 510s in the black version are nearly impossible to wear while biking). Overall, I am extremely satisfied and perhaps with a bit more wear they will be useable for biking in the future. Thanks for listening to your customers Levi’s…..happy customers lead to more sales. More 510 colors please!

When they say "reinforced" they really mean it. You can see and feel the extra toughness. I have a very broken in pair of 510's to compare, and I'm very satisfied with the look, fit and mileage I have gotten out of those.
At first it's actually a little more constricting for me in the crotch. the extra reinforcement might need some additional breaking in, but it's more like a pair of new boots.
Overall, I would say they are worth the extra cash for an upgrade from your regular 510's.

So about once a year or so I purchase a new pair of dark denim. I usually just get the 510's in the normal rigid wash, however I had heard about the commuter line: reinforced pockets & croch, 3m reflective fabric seam, water resistant treatment and decided to give it a try. Upon getting them I tried them on, and they felt a bit bigger than my other 510's. I have about 5 pairs (2 twill 3 denim) and I cannot remember if 510's just fit larger when you first get them and shrink a bit, or if these are just a bit roomier. Either way I am happy with the fit, it is nothing outlandish or that you would want to size down to fix. There does seem to be a bit more stretch with these though, which again is nothing that bothers me. I will have to see how these hold up and if they end up giving a lot, if so I have a feeling after the first wash they will fit like a glove.
All in all, I bike everywhere, and the little add ons definetly make it worth the extra money.
I recommend this product!
