An icon of American culture, the one that started it all—the 501® Original Fit jean. A fit that's straight through the hip with a slightly tapered leg opening and our signature button-fly. Tested by generations, they continue to define the modern dress code. Great for all builds.

Nice Jeans, But Pockets Are Too Low

In reading other reviews lately about the 501's that have been made for the current season, I must concur that I also don't like that the pockets sit low on the newest 501 jeans being made. I actually found this particular model of 501 (blue lane) to be quite attractive when I went to purchase a pair recently at a local department store. I like the dark contrasts and the textured 'whiskering' on the thigh area, but in purchasing this pair and trying it on, I just didn't like the way the pockets sit low on the back. All the other details are fine, and I don't mind that the new 501's are single stitched on the top of the rear pockets, because that is part of Levi's history. Having grown up in the 80's and early 90's, I like jeans that compliment the male figure, which means I don't like low or drooping back pockets. When it comes to 501's, my expectation is for the rear pockets to line up slightly above the front pockets as they once did. If it wasn't for this aesthetic issue, I probably would have kept this pair of jeans. Note to Levi's: Not all of your consumers are adolescents who like pockets hanging low, which give a slouching almost saggy impression. I highly recommend that your production staff bring back the higher sitting rear pockets on your next 501 models to be released next season or next year. Thank You.
