I recently changed positions at work and needed something a little more casual than the oxfords I had been wearing. These boots accomplish that look perfectly, casual enough for jeans but slightly more formal than sneakers. They are a little darker than I expected based on the pictures, but I actually like them better this way. The leather is very soft and feels pretty well broken in right out of the box. I have been wearing them every day for about 3 weeks and they're holding up great, though admittedly I'm not putting them through much at work or at home.

There are a few drawbacks, but they are minor when compared to the great look and quality of the boots. There is very little cushioning in the shoe, there is a built-in leather insole and that's about it. Normally I wouldn't complain too much about this because you can just go buy a pair to your liking and put them in yourself. Unfortunately, that's really not much of an option here because the end of the boots is very short and unless you have very flat feet, the added bulk of a padded insole would make it nearly impossible to get your foot in. Again, this has not been an issue for me since I'm not on my feet all day, but consider that in the event that you plan to be. The other minor issue that I have is that these only come with one pair of laces. I can already see a little bit of wear on mine where you hook them through to lace it all the way up. The laces don't show any signs of fraying or imminent breakage, but I don't expect them to last nearly as long as the boots themselves which means I'll be trying to find the same gray color in the right length in stores somewhere which will be a pain.

Overall, these look great and are well constructed but only get 4 stars due to concerns about long-term comfort. Recommended.
