So I returned these 505's, though I REALLY liked the material. I liked the classic cut, the rugged tin-cloth, the whole MADE IN USA/FILSON vibe, and the scalloped back pockets were a nice touch.
Keep in mind these are straight leg 505s, so they don't fit skinny. Slim to some perhaps, but they seemed pretty regular to me as they should be.
The reason I sent them back: The waist ran big on me. I had read the reviews that said these run small and to size up (granted the reviews were in reference to the tan/khaki colored Filson's, not the new black ones). My waist is 32", and so I ordered a 32, and a 31, knowing that you don't wear these low on the hips and I prefer them more fitted. I'm glad I didn't bother with sizing up to a 33... The end result:
The 31's I received had a 32.5" waist, and the 32's were 33.5. Foolish me, I hadn't expected these to be vanity-sized, I've never worn a 30 in anything, especially Levi's. Unfortunately, I don't have enough experience with tin-cloth to guess how much they'd shrink in water, or dryer, or how much the waist will stretch etc- so back they go. The tag did indicate there would be some minimal shrinkage but I doubt anything like a shrink-to-fit 501.
I recommend this product!
